Family Care’s dollar table
The Wyoming Department of Health publishes Family Care amounts by household size — $873 a month for three before the 5% disregard — and requires a Medicaid-eligible child under 18 in the home. The table stops at ten people; larger households should ask the agency.[state]
| Group | FPL | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parents | table | $596 | $828 | $987 | $1,137 | $1,512 |
| Pregnancy | 159% | $2,115 | $2,868 | $3,620 | $4,373 | $5,878 |
| Children | 205% | $2,727 | $3,697 | $4,668 | $5,638 | $7,579 |
Children and pregnancy
Pregnant women and children under six are covered to 154% of the poverty line and school-age children to 133%, with Kid Care CHIP covering children to 200%. After birth, Pregnant by Choice offers pregnancy-planning services up to 159%.[state]
Postpartum
Wyoming’s 12-month postpartum extension was approved September 14, 2023.[KFF] Mothers in that year can also receive pregnancy-planning services through Pregnant by Choice up to 159% of the poverty line.[state]
An expansion that keeps failing
An expansion bill passed the Wyoming House for the first time in 2021 but failed in a Senate committee, and a version reintroduced for an October 2021 special session did not advance.[KFF] Applications go through the Department of Health’s Medicaid and Kid Care CHIP application.
Worked example
A Casper parent with a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old earns $1,500 a month. That is 65.9% of the poverty line for 3.
| Parent / caretaker | over by $513 | $987 |
| Child 1–5 | covered | $4,668 |
| Child 6–18 | covered | $4,668 |
