Privacy
By the MedicaidCalc Editorial Team · Updated
The short version: what you type into the calculator never leaves your device. Your income, household size, state and the people you select are processed by JavaScript in your browser. They are not sent to our server, not stored in a cookie, and not shared with anyone.
What the site does record
To learn whether the calculator is actually used, the page sends a few anonymous events to our own server (no third-party analytics). Each event stores:
- the event name — page view, first interaction, state selected, result completed, deep scroll, a click to a state page or an outside source, a share;
- the page path (never the part after
#, which is where shared results live); - for some events a short label such as a two-letter state code — never an amount;
- a random ID created for that single page load so events from one view can be grouped (it is not saved on your device and is gone when you leave);
- the referring website’s host name only, your country as reported by our hosting network, and whether the device is a phone or a desktop;
- a timestamp.
We do not store your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string, cookies or any persistent identifier, and automated browsers are filtered out.
Correction reports
If you send a correction, we store the report type, your message, the page it is about, the date, and — only if you choose to give it — a reply address. Nothing else about you is stored with it. We use the reply address only to answer that report.
Shared links
“Share this result” builds a link whose details sit after the # in the address. Browsers do not send that part to servers, so a shared result never reaches our logs.
Storage on your device
If you choose a light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. Nothing else is.
Hosting and retention
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver pages and protect the site; our own event and correction records are kept in a database we control and are used only to improve this site. We do not sell or share them.
