Generous for children and young adults

MaineCare covers children of all ages to 300% of the poverty line, financing part of that range with CHIP funds rather than a separate CHIP, and it extends the same 300% to 19- and 20-year-olds — far above the 138% that applies to other adults.[MACPAC][MACPAC]

Pregnancy is covered to 209%, with from-conception coverage to 208%.[MACPAC] Parents and caretakers have their own group to 100% of the poverty line before the expansion takes over.[MACPAC]

Postpartum MaineCare

MaineCare’s 12-month postpartum extension was approved June 16, 2022.[KFF] Newborns of covered mothers are deemed eligible to 209% of the poverty line.[MACPAC]
